Chiral molecule identification, polarization generator, and optical antenna design method

Topology optimization is a machine-aided design technique that optimizes material structure and enhances performance. Applying this technique to the design of an optical antenna provides an optical antenna with a nanogap structure with the following features: Circular Polarization Identification Responses to left and right circular polarized light can be significantly enhanced for incident circular polarized light. For example, the chiral identification of trace chiral molecules can be achieved using this invention. Circular polarization generation and control Circular polarization can be radiated by placing a light source in a gap structure, and the polarization state can be controlled according to the direction of the light source. A polarization-generating device is anticipated.

Chiral molecule identification, polarization generation device, antenna design method

Topology optimization is a method that optimizes the arrangement of materials to achieve lightweight and high-performance products. This technology is an invention that, for the first time in the world, applies this method to the design of optical antennas, enabling the provision of optical antennas with a nanogap structure that has the following features: - High-precision circular polarization discrimination It achieves significantly different responses to left and right circular polarizations for incident circular polarization. For example, by irradiating circular polarization onto the nanostructure of the invention, it becomes a fine element that can easily distinguish polarization states. Additionally, it can be used for the detection and identification of chirality in trace molecules. - Generation and control of circular polarization By placing a light source in the gap structure, it can emit circular polarization, and the polarization state can be controlled according to the orientation of the light source. It is expected to be utilized as a polarization generation device optimal for applications requiring high polarization degree.
